Job Summary

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE MUST LIVE CLOSE TO A MAJOR AIRPORT

This is a remote position within the Petrochemicals Solvents Division of CITGO Petroleum. The Senior Account Manager is responsible for achieving assigned sales volume and profitability goals by developing strong relationships with existing customers and actively pursuing new business opportunities within the assigned territory. The role focuses on expanding sales through both existing and new product offerings while supporting long-term growth and profitability objectives.

Key responsibilities include analyzing market trends, pricing, and competitive activity; communicating market intelligence to management and the broader sales team; negotiating pricing and contract terms for management approval; and serving as the primary point of contact for customer communications. The position also provides technical and product application support to customers and collaborates with internal teams to resolve service, credit, quality, and pricing issues, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, retention, and business growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant job-related experience. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in general computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and electronic communication tools.
  • Strong business acumen with sound judgment in personnel and operational decision-making. 
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret data, including statistical evaluation, and assess the financial impact of recommendations.
  • Sales or account management experience required.
  • Willingness to travel as required and reside within proximity to a major airport.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while balancing customer needs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Job Duties

  • Grow profitable sales within an assigned territory by developing strong relationships with existing customers and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Manage customer accounts through regular communication, business reviews, and industry engagement.
  • Analyze market conditions, competitive activity, and pricing trends to develop recommendations that support sales growth and profitability.
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with customers and coordinate internal approvals.
  • Maintain accurate customer, sales pipeline, and forecasting information within Salesforce CRM.
  • Partner with Credit, Customer Service, Transportation, and Supply Chain teams to ensure excellent customer support and resolve business issues.
  • Identify and evaluate new markets, products, and opportunities to expand CITGO's hydrocarbon solvent business.
  • Participate in customer RFQs, contract renewals, and business development initiatives.
  • Develop annual sales plans, forecasts, and budgets while monitoring performance against established goals.
  • Support and develop distributor relationships to expand market coverage and increase sales effectiveness.
  • Evaluate logistics strategies, freight structures, and distribution opportunities to improve customer service and profitability.
