Job Summary

Assure the quality of all chemical raw materials and finished products produced at the Oklahoma City Lubricants Manufacturing Plant.  Provide technical assistance to other operating units.  Calibrate and inspect laboratory equipment and make recommendations for support and replacement. Establish and maintain area capital and expense budgets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (Chemistry degree preferred) and 5 years of experience. 8 years of experience required in lieu of degree.
  • Supervisory training; OPA 90 Certification; Hazwoper Training; In-depth knowledge of SAP, WimLims, and LPB; Instrument Theory and Operation Training preferred.

Job Duties

  • Supervise all activities of the QC Laboratory.  Plan, prioritize, assist, and assign duties to be performed by Lab Technicians.  Supervises the decision-making process for all products to be released for packing or bulk shipment.
  • Determine the proper product adjustments needed to bring batches into specifications and communicate resolution with plant personnel.
  • Implements statistical process control and other process improvement techniques needed to ensure quality control test integrity
  • Oversee the submission of ASTM and other round robin sample submittal programs and review all program results when returned.
  • Work with plant operations and corporate Product Engineering/Product Technology staff on special QC/developmental testing requirements
  • Develop, implement and conduct training on lab methodology and test procedures to be used by Lab Technicians
  • Supervise the operation of the laboratory information system as well as provide coordination with Tulsa Management and IT staff, on any problems and upgrades
  • Purchasing materials, supplies, and services, utilizing SAP and following all corporate purchasing procedures
