Job Summary

The Instrument/Analyzer Technician candidate will work in a refinery environment performing calibration, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining process control instruments or process/environmental analyzer systems.

 

Starting Pay: $41.35

Successful qualification results in eligibilty for a progressive pay range: $44.23 - $57.13

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 5+ years of Instrumentation experience or a degree/certificate in instrumentation or related field of study such as electronics or electrical.
  2. Basic Maintenance Skills
  3. Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals
  4. Basic understanding of electrical/instrument test equipment
  5. Must understand basic process control fundamentals
  6. Must understand basic shop equipment
  7. Basic understanding of precision measurement and calibrations
  8. Must be able to work in a refinery environment
  9. Must be willing to work 8-hour sift schedule in a 24-hour rotation
  10. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime, as required
  11. Must be able to work outdoors, climb and wear SCBA
  12. Must have experience in analog and digital repairs and calibration
  13. Must have the ability to read electronic, process, and instrument schematics
  14. Musth have a willingness to assume the individual responsibilities of a Journeyman Instrument Technician
  15. Must possess the ability to make correct decisions concerning the safety of plant personnel and protection of plant equipment
  16. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  17. Valid Driver’s License
  18. Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility
    • Eligibility Requirements: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Preferred Qualifications

  1. ISA CCST Certification
  2. 5+ years of Instrumentation experience in the oil and gas or power generation industries
  3. 5+ years of experience in electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic fields in refining setting with Delta V, PLC, and similar electrical equipment
  4. Ability to utilize pneumatic along with electronic testing and calibration equipment
  5. Proficiency in using multi-meters, as well as electronic and pneumatic calibration equipment and other related testing equipment
  6. Ability to read and understand instrument loop diagrams, as well as P & ID’s
  7. Ability to identify and calibrate various other instrumentation such as Mag Meters, Coriolis Meters, Vortex Meters
  8. Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Analyzers (GC, O2, NIR, Area Gas Detector, CEMS) experience
  9. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  10. Experience maintaining control valves (Actuator replacement, packing replacement, valve trim replacement etc..)

Job Duties

Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot/repair flow, temperature/level/pressure and temperature switches and transmitters along with many types of control valves and final control elements for routine and non-routine maintenance, turnaround and capital construction projects. Preventative maintenance and frequent inspections on instrumentation or analyzer systems. Disassemble and reassemble equipment for inspection, testing and repair.  Field communication using HART, fieldbus or Modbus protocol for instrument and valve configurations and troubleshooting. Participation in LOTO activities. Willingness to work various shifts and overtime, as needed.
