Job Summary
The Fixed Equipment Inspector provides technical inspection oversight and mechanical integrity program compliance over assigned refinery process units and is responsible for monitoring equipment health and improving equipment operational reliability. Involves both the safe performance of inspection and the identification of the need for particular inspections. Uses non-destructive test methods and recommends appropriate repair methods. Maintains necessary documentation in equipment files to comply with all programs. Develop T/A scope of work including, relief valve servicing, pressure vessel inspection, piping repair/replacement, heat exchanger repair/replacement, atmospheric storage tank repairs, etc. Monitors equipment life and makes recommendations on end of life replacements/repairs to equipment. This position is located on-site at the CITGO Petroleum Refinery in Lemont, IL.
Expected salary range $122,000 - $149,000

Minimum Qualifications
- API 510 and API 570 certifications
- API 653 certification (preferred)
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (preferred)
- National Board Owner/User Commission or ability to obtain upon employment
- ASNT Level II UT & RT interpretation
- Ability to work extended hours during refinery T/A or outages
- Ability to work night shift during refinery T/A or outages as needed
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain TWIC card
- High School Diploma plus 5 years of job-related experience
- Associates Degree preferred
Job Duties
- Perform all work in a safe, incident free manner. Supervise NDE technicians such that they also work safely. Follow-up on any safety incidents. Conduct safety audits on work in progress, especially work being performed by NDE technicians. Present topics at safety meetings. Attend & participate in HAZOP meetings. Meet all deadlines for assigned action items related to safety.
- Manage an inspection plan for assigned process equipment that is in compliance with all applicable industry codes, regulations and standards, as well as CITGO inspection procedures. Manage on-stream and turnaround inspection utilizing routine NDE (Non Destructive Examination) techniques, monitor repairs, and track completion of recommendations on refinery fixed equipment. Direct inspection activities during turnarounds and equipment outages by supervising contract inspector activities. Communicate findings and recommendations to Operations & Maintenance in a timely manner.
- Maintain all required documentation to satisfy Lemont Refinery’s Owner/User QA/QC manual and the Mechanical Integrity Program. This includes keeping the PCMS database current & valid.
- Analyze corrosion program data, operating parameters, and inspection equipment history of fixed equipment to determine remaining life, set inspection intervals, and determine the timing of required repairs or replacements. Analyze problems and develop reliability plan for fixed equipment in assigned units and identify unit run limiters that need to be addressed; evaluate alternatives for addressing reliability issues, run limiters, and recommend metallurgy upgrades and design modifications to resolve the root cause of fixed equipment related issues. Ensure proper inspection data is gathered by contract inspectors to support equipment design changes or metallurgy upgrades and work with fixed equipment engineers to provide supporting technical and economic justification for upgrades and design improvements.

- Perform quality assurance / quality control on new fabrication and on maintenance repairs to fixed equipment. This includes initial shop audits before a fabricator is added to the Lemont approved bidders list, as well as, shop audits during equipment fabrication. QA/QC responsibility also encompasses positive material identification of all alloy material and all welding processes.
- Have a personal development plan to maintain the required skills and learn new ones. Maintaining the required certifications is a minimum. Added skills sets, such as knowledge of corrosion, coatings, CP, advanced NDE techniques, etc., can increase value contribution.
