Job Summary

A Rotating Equipment Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating the routine, project and turnaround maintenance activities for all personnel performing work in an operating area within the refinery. This includes the safe execution of all fieldwork in a safe and cost-efficient manner and ensuring knowledge and compliance of all CITGO policies and procedures for any employee performing work in their area of responsibility. Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with one (1) year of related technical experience, or
  • Graduate of apprentice or vocational technical school with three (3) years of related experience, or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with five (5) years of related experience
  • Refinery or petrochemical experience in rotating equipment, centrifugal compressors, large steam turbines, and gear increasers; highly preferred 
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in SAP
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • CITGO hourly employees must be qualified as a temporary supervisor per the Supervisor Development Process (OSDP, MSDP, or LSDP) and meet the minimum qualifications listed above.

Job Duties

  • Model safety conscious behavior and ensure that all work is performed safely. This is to be done by ensuring all workers understand their responsibilities and work according to established procedures. The supervisor is to spend time in the field auditing work and identifying hazards before a job begins and perform pre-job reviews, safety huddles, and other needed reviews when appropriate to facilitate safe work. Complete, track and report all necessary documentation per refinery policies and procedures.
  • Assign daily tasks and supervise execution of these tasks for hourly CITGO and contract personnel in Central Maintenance Rotating Equipment area
  • Manage maintenance backlog in SAP by dispatching job operations, partially complete work orders, and final confirming operations status. Verify tools, equipment, and transportation are available for daily maintenance activities.
  • Perform daily problem-solving activities on maintenance tasks
  • Execute maintenance work for management of change projects, capture required documentation, and obtain approvals prior to executing work
  • Check work orders for accurate charges of time and materials, and verify actual cost of work performed
  • Enforce company policies, work under the bargaining agreement with unions, and address personnel issues with hourly employees
  • Perform incident investigations and write incident reports for maintenance related incidents in assigned work area
  • Ability to travel regularly, and work weekends and holidays, as needed
