Job Summary

Manage and coordinate assigned storage tank inspection and repair projects as required by the Terminal Facilities and Pipeline (TPL) Atmospheric Storage Tank Inspection Program (ASTIP). 

Minimum Qualifications

  • College Degree (Bachelors Level) with a minimum of 4 yrs. experience or a minimum of 8 yrs. experience without a degree.

  • Good interpersonal skills and good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively and efficiently with varying deadlines.

  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Advanced understanding of API 650, API 653, UL 142, and shop-fabricated STP001 and 002 STI storage tanks. API 653 Cert. preferred.

Job Duties

  1. Coordinate and oversee assigned storage tank inspection and repair activities.  Evaluate inspection findings and develop project estimates, scopes of work, and AFEs to facilitate repairs in accordance with API 650 and 653.  Work with field personnel to develop and maintain project schedules to meet program deadlines and annual budgets.  Provide technical support on matters that arise in the field during the execution of tank inspection and repair activities.

  2. Review, validate and organize all project documentation to support regulatory audits.  Update the tank database to ensure all records are current.

  3. Perform follow-up inspections, as required, to ensure inspection findings were properly addressed in accordance with the scope of work.  Scope of work may include nozzle repair and installation; bottom repair and installation; roof and shell repair; and repair of existing coating systems.

  4. Provide technical input for the design of new atmospheric storage tanks.  Review vendor drawings to ensure compliance with CFR 195 and API 650.  Provide technical support to Refineries and Lubes on an as needed basis.

  5. Evaluate new technologies, repair methods, alternative designs, and procedures.  Identify and implement improvements to existing tank technical specifications and drawing.

  6. Provide monthly and annual reporting to track and ensure compliance with the program.

  7. Participate in all tank-related Federal and State Audits by answering all regulator questions, showing compliance, and providing any requested records.
