Job Summary

Responsible for conducting and documenting moderate to complex financial analysis projects.  Researches, collects data required.  Formats and analyzes data. Presents results/conclusions by using reports, charts or oral format, as required.  Utilizes knowledge of operations and financial processes and their interrelationships to act as an analytcial resource for management. Some discretion, evaluation and creative thinking is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Finance or Economics Preferred)
  • 2 years of job-related experience.
  • Solid understanding of refinery operations, with strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Previous operations experience is a plus but not required.   
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with limited supervision. 
  • Proficient computer skills, including Powerpoint and Excel capabilities (creation/use of Lookups and Pivot tables).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Preferred: Experience with SAP or similar enterprise software, including report generation.    

     

     

     

Job Duties

1.Lead monthly analysis of refinery operating expenses vs budget expenses for operations and maintenance areas.  Work with the other departments at the refinery to provide variance analysis and prepare this data for presentation to refinery management. Proactively identify potential problems in the area of cost management, allowing for timely corrective or other action as necessary.  

2. Attend operations and maintenance meetings (and other refinery meetings as necessary) to stay informed of refinery activities impacting spending, scheduling, and compliance.  Utilize information from these meetings to assist with financial data reporting and analysis.

3. Compile data to assist with the monthly expense estimates and the monthly 3-month OpEx look ahead forecast.

4.  Assist in the compilation and analysis of the annual refinery operating expense budget.  Provide analysis of major variances between operating years and other time periods as requested by refinery management.  Prepare the maintenance area expense budget and the operations area expense budget with itemized costs based on coordinated and collected input.

5. Assist in confirming data in CosTrack with regular input/feedback from CosTrack processors. 

6. Provide requested monthly updates to corporate personnel on monthly spending, forecasts, maintenance FTEs and other. 

5. Conduct simple to complex financial and accounting analysis as requested by supervisor.
